Antonio A. Cançado Trindade, a distinguished member of IHLADI, passed away on 29 May 2029 after a serious illness. With a PhD from Cambridge University, he carried out an intense academic, teaching and research activity in Brazil. He left an incomparable mark as a judge of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights from 1996 to 2006, of which he was president, and was subsequently elected judge of the International Court of Justice from 2009. He made human dignity the centre of gravity of an intense and extensive scientific work, which constitutes a legacy of the first order. RIP
